3 Camera cases
2 bags of food, possibly 3
1 bag of bathroom stuff
Add it all together. See what I mean!
Yesterday was a good day. It started off cold and fresh but then warmed into a beautiful hot day in London town. My dad used to have his office on the Kings Road in Chelsea and for the last 30 years he has been going to the same hairdressers. Now to them and the man who cuts his hair he is a very important person and always gets VIP treatement and money off the cut! So he left us in Peter Jones (same as John Lewis), a very lovely department store and got the bus to the hairdressers. When he came back we had lunch there and then got a bus to the Royal Academy to see an exhibition of paintings by a dutch artist (long dead) Jacob Van Ruisdael. Do go and see it if you can if you're in the area. Like all these old dutch masters the paintings are hung in darkened rooms so not to damage the pictures. This man captured the light and skies and also influenced Turner and Constable who copied many of his pictures - they did own up about it at the time! It was more special seeing them as my mum is dutch and many of the pictures depicted towns and villages that she knew, especially one where she went to school in!
Afterwards we went to Fortnum and Mason, a rather splendid, old fashioned department store yet so expensive, but well worth the money! Back to Charring Cross on an old Routemaster bus (funny, I thought they had all been taken out of service?!) and back home of an Indian take- away, eaten in the garden. Perfect really.
Today, again the weather has been beautiful. So pictures:
