Detox Day 3445! The London Eye & Life In A Freezer

It has been bloody freezing! Four days ago we had a power cut for 3 hours, the 2nd day of the clocks going back and the central heating packed up! It's amazing how cold it becomes in such little time. It's fixed now, but it wasn't nice!

We've been busy. Tuesday night went up to town to see a friend's exhibition. Met an old Winchester chum (small world) who was also showing his work (though not my cup of tea.) Back home on the train and broke the detox as we had an Indian out as the house was so cold. The next day met our friend David from Devon and FINALLY went on the London Eye - pictures to follow - on a clear, blue, sunny day. Lots of people but definitely something I'd recommend to anyone visiting or living in the capital, you can literally see for miles! Then we went to the National Gallery to see the Spanish painter Diego Velazquez (1599-1660) who was one of the offical Monarch painters of that time. Good paintings and very good at dogs! Then a walk through Convent Garden, then home by train and a pizza take out. So detox destroyed in two days! Flip. Oh well, back on it now. It's going very well, I've almost lost a stone, just another one to go. Flip again.

Off to Devon on Sunday, back to dial up, so my posts will be very few and far between. Again my Mum is going by train on Monday as we have a packed car, mostly filled with canvas and paint as I restocked. I've had good feedback from my website, for anyone naughty enough for not looking at it: www.ejclark.co.uk there's the address again. A couple of people who I would have gambled a real fortune on to coment - haven't - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

So next few days, sorting out and packing. Bluewater this afternoon. No rest for the wicked!

Ok, photos, all in order for the day (Wednesday), enjoy:

As you can see, clear blue day - perfect!

It doesn't stop - it keeps moving, so you have to walk onto the pod when it's going!

Each pod holds around 25 people, there 12 on ours

An amazing feat of enginering - makes the Ferris Wheel at the fair look lame!

The big building in the background is Charring Cross Station

Docklands in the distance

Looking over towards Blackheath!

Toy trains!

Buckingham Palace and Green Park and St Jame's Park

The one view of London that excites me the most - the Houses of Parliment

The London Embankment

My mate Nelson!

View from the National Gallery

Nelson's Column

The Lion statues on Trafalgar Square - there are 4 altogether

Street performer in Convent Garden - the boy from the audience was a star!

My Mum and I will go back on the wheel again when we get back as we want to see London in the dark with all the lights - anyone want to join us?

Lots of love to one and all and definitely one over the pond who feels homesick!
